Elementary School Program—3rd Grade
The Chandler Museum currently offers a guided tour for third grade students that is designed around the Arizona State standards for third grade Social Studies.

“Life in the Past, a Look at Chandler in 1912”
Cotton farming, ranching and lots of chores were a part of everyday life in1912. Children will enjoy traveling back through time and visiting the museum’s tenthouse, grocery store and learning about Chandler’s agricultural history.

Time: 1 hour
Price per student: suggested donation of $1/ student
Maximum group: 60 students
Group will be divided into three and rotated between three sections
Adult Chaperones: Grades 7 and below: one adult for every 5-7 students
Grades 8 and above: one adult for every 8-10 students
NOTE: and adult with a baby is not considered a chaperone


Tour Add-on

“Fire Safety”
At no additional cost, teachers can choose to add a presentation on fire safety to their tour. This enthusiastic presentation is given by a member of the Chandler Fire Department. Children will listen and take part in fire drills while learning valuable life saving tips. The presentation is given prior to the museum tour and runs 15 minutes in length.

Group Tours

Guided Tours of the Chandler Museum exhibits are available to groups of all ages. Reservations must be made at least two weeks prior to your visit.

Self guided tour materials are available at the front desk at the museum.

All school programs and tours, whether self-guided or guided, must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Call the museum to book your tour today!

A teacher’s packet will be sent to you when you book your tour. This packet contains information to prepare your group for their visit.

Educational Materials

The “I Spy” Detective worksheets allow children to locate items around the museum and answer questions about what they observe.

“A Journey Through Time” is a compilation of activities that utilize the resources available at the Chandler Museum to teach reading, writing and social studies standards at the 3rd and 4th grade levels.

“Chandler: Pioneer City of the New West” by Scott Solliday is an 86 page history of Chandler.
History Books are available by mail for $10
